Of course, not every cat is thrilled when the baby just arrives. It takes time to understand what's going on, who that little person is who is now screaming and crying all the time, and that they'll be staying with them forever. Maybe the feline used to be the center of attention in the house, and it picked and chose when to be touched or cuddled, but now… all of the attention is going towards that baby… and what about them? It's lovely to see them start inspecting the baby from afar, then gently walk towards them… Some cats might need more time to get to know that new being, and for others it's only a matter of hours. But once they realize there's no danger involved and that a baby is the same as a kitty, then love comes in, and the rest is history…

It's crazy to me that babies are the in-person version of what cats hate most: loud noises, abrupt movements, being squeezed, and more. Yet they allow the baby to do whatever they want with them, because they know how wholesome and special those types of humans are. If I could, I'd love to get inside a feline's brain and see what it understands when it sees a baby. It's awesome how they learn to behave with so much patience and care towards little babies… And as time goes by and babies grow into toddlers, that relationship can become even more fun and entertaining. Kids know what cats are and what they can do with them, so it's all laughs, giggles, and a bit of mischief and naughtiness, too. As toddlers discover the world, cats can be their ultimate bodyguard, staying with them to make sure nothing bad happens until they grow old enough to be okay by themselves. Having the chance to grow with a pet is one of the most precious gifts anyone can experience, and for me, that's what true love really is.
